Our sweet little Lyla Ray turned TWO on Mother's
Day this year. She continues to keep us on our toes but most importantly,
keep us laughing. She is H.I.LA.R.I.O.U.S She has a tude and for
now, I love it :) We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her personality. Everyone
says she looks and acts just like me, could be scary down the road. She
has really started talking a lot and putting sentences together. Her
favorite word is, WHY?! She copies everything Gage says, which could also be scary. She is very interested in the potty but literally
sits on it for a second and says, "I done."
What does she love?
Her daddy. He says, "where's pretty
girl?" She puts her chin down and shrugs those shoulders...love it.
Gage. Every time he is out of sight she asks
where he is. They wrestle all the time and she just laughs. But
don't get me wrong, she will slap him across the face too. He's got
something coming in another year or so!
The farm. She always says, "I wanna
ride" (the golf cart or the 4-wheeler). She would stay outside all
day if we let her. She always asks about the chickens and loves to try to "pet dem".
Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle. We read
"Brown Baeh, Brown Baeh" every.single.night. Seriously. She
knows most of the words and is learning the colors of the animals and sounds. When I ask her what the teacher says, she says "SIT DOWN".
Haha. I probably should have taught her something more positive but
I mean it is kinda funny.
Her paci. Yep, she still sucks a paci.
Don't judge. We mainly limit it at nap time and night.
However, when she is screaming at the top of her lungs the paci is used.
Speaking of, she loves to scream, like screeching type of scream. It must be
a girl thing. If you take something that she wants or do something she doesn't
like, she screams. Many many car rides are quite unpleasant.
Dog food.
Yep, she loves to eat dog food. Don't judge.
Her two fleece blankets. Thankfully she does not HAVE to have them to sleep but if we are home, she has them.
To put on everyones shoes.
Minnie Mouse.
To play ball. She loves to get in a batters stance (see picture below) and act like she is going to hit.

About Lyla.......
She weighs 25 lbs. She's short (shocker), I
think in the 50th percentile.
Wears 18 months-2T, depending on what it is.
Hates anything but her tennis shoes. To get
her to wear sandals is a battle. Lately she has enjoyed crocs and socks. Help.
Has a curly mullet and always takes her bow out.
Loves to dance and be outside.
Does EVERYTHING her brother does.
Loves eggs.
If she gets hurt, she points it out for DAYS.
She did NOT get that from me.....NO names.
She is definitely OCD, like me. If she goes outside, she wants to put her shoes on. If she spills something, she wants to wipe it up. She picks up after herself too, point for mommy.
1 year check up
Her daily snack. Oops.
If she sleeps anywhere but her crib, you KNOW she doesn't feel good. One of many ear infections.

So, because it was such a busy time during Lyla's birthday (just a few excuses; we were in the middle of moving and it was Mother's Day) we did a family party. Since we all get together anyways for Mother's Day, it was perfect timing! My cousin had her little girl a Mickey Mouse Party in February but no one could go because they live in Asheville and there was a TON of snow that weekend. So, we used Emma's decor, I made cupcakes and we had a party! The cousins all swam and we had a good time. Now, when Lyla looks back at this one day and says I didn't have her a party, well.....yea, you're right. But I sorta did.
